8.0 MPa High-Pressure Alkaline Electrolyser Wins Joint Certificates from DEKRA, CQC and CATARC

On August 19, the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), on behalf of DEKRA and the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), formally awarded a product conformity certificate to the self-developed 8.0 MPa high-pressure alkaline water electrolyser of a leading Chinese manufacturer of pressure-type alkaline electrolysis equipment backed by aerospace engineering expertise.

 

 

As early as July 10, the system had passed the joint testing and certification by the three authoritative bodies, meeting all test items in a single round, with every performance and safety indicator reaching the required standards. The formal issuance of the certificate marks that this domestically produced high-pressure hydrogen production equipment has secured dual authoritative recognition both at home and abroad, laying an important foundation for the large-scale integration of green hydrogen into chemical scenarios and the commercial deployment of the deep “green hydrogen + chemicals” coupling.

 

Unlike conventional low-pressure electrolysers, the 8.0 MPa high-pressure alkaline water electrolyser can produce high-pressure hydrogen directly, eliminating downstream hydrogen compression equipment. This effectively lowers project equipment investment and compression energy consumption, while reducing plant footprint and operation & maintenance costs, making it highly suited to the actual demand of coal chemical and ammonia synthesis industries for high-pressure feedstock hydrogen. High-pressure operation imposes extremely demanding technical thresholds on the electrolyser's sealing performance, hydrogen/oxygen pressure differential control, material compatibility and system safety protection. Passing the joint certification marks an important breakthrough in the core technology and safety reliability of China's high-pressure alkaline hydrogen production equipment.

 

As China's green hydrogen industry accelerates its penetration into industrial scenarios, the chemical sector's demand for low-cost, highly reliable high-pressure hydrogen production equipment continues to rise. Domestic manufacturers, drawing on aerospace engineering know-how, keep iterating their pressure-type alkaline electrolysis product portfolios across multiple pressure ratings, helping convert wind and solar green power into industrially usable green hydrogen and opening up the full-chain pathway of “green power → green hydrogen → chemical products.”

 

The issuance of the conformity certificate also creates favourable conditions for such equipment to participate in future project bidding, expand its share of the domestic industrial green hydrogen market and access overseas markets, further promoting the scaled rollout of domestically produced high-pressure electrolysis equipment and empowering the green, low-carbon transformation of high energy-consuming industries.
